You finally made the emotional commitment and are ready to start a new exercise program. You are already envisioning the "new you" both physically and emotionally. Nothing beats feeling great about the way you look and that in itself makes you feel better emotionally. Funny how the two work in conjunction with one another! Now the question is, "How do I get the 'current' me to look and feel like the 'future' me"? As stated before throughout this incredibly informative web site, the majority of our population is for the most part, new to all aspects of fitness. Even those that have been exercising for years openly admit they have done little to change their physical appearance or improve their overall level of fitness. PUMPS, like most other clubs has hundreds of machines available that are designed to help you lose weight, tone up, get stronger, grow taller and feel younger but unless you know how to properly utilize them (with your specific goals in mind), what good are they? You supply the energy, desire and enthusiasm let PUMPS supply the expertise and motivation!

We live in a society where time is of the essence therefore nobody wants to waste time. Our goal, while you are here exercising, is to ensure you don’t waste your time. You want to get into your best physical shape ever and you want it accomplished yesterday. If you are indeed serious about finally accomplishing your fitness goals then we guarantee we have the answer. The key to your success here at PUMPS is through our comprehensive Pro-Fitness Program™ fitness consultation!

The Pro-Fitness Program™ is one of the most recognized and respected fitness programs in North America and we are excited to announce that PUMPS is one of the few select clubs in New England to offer this program to our members. The program has been developed over a 20 year period and has transformed the lives of thousands of health club members throughout the United States and Canada. The program is what the name states; clubs using this program are about professional fitness or pro-fitness; meaning pro-education, pro-results and pro-service. All facilities that offer this program no longer concentrate on selling memberships and showcasing their facility, but simply focus on getting you the best fitness and wellness results possible.

The Fitness Consultation, which is unquestionably the key to your success, is one or a series of four 90-minute one-on-one appointments (performed every 90 days) with one of our professionally trained and certified fitness consultants. The plethora of information obtained from the consultation allows us to define your level of fitness and ensures you are safely capable of exercising before you actually begin your exercise program.

Each consultation consists of goal setting (20-minutes), baseline data (20-minutes), fitness floor fun (30-minutes) and a personalized fitness prescription (20-minutes) all based on the results and goals you want to achieve.

The Initial Fitness Consultation

  • In-depth health screening to ensure every member is safe to exercise.
  • A cardio-vascular assessment to evaluate how efficiently your heart and lungs function during exercise.
  • A body composition analysis.
  • Flexibility and strength limitation testing.
  • Measurement of blood pressure and resting heart rate.
  • Total body measurements.
  • Muscular endurance assessments.
  • Determination of equipment knowledge based on range of movement, speed and control of exercise, breathing patterns, body positioning and isolation.
  • Equipment technique demonstration.
  • Exercise prescription
* Any tests or procedures can be omitted if the member is uncomfortable with them or the explanation as to why they are beneficial. We’re flexible!

Once the fitness consultation has been completed our PUMPS fitness consultant will have all the necessary data which will enable her to prescribe a detailed program that will lead you on your path to success.

Note: Although the initial consultation is an excellent starting point in determining where you stand in terms of your level of fitness and exercise knowledge, it is only a starting point. Having just an initial assessment without follow up assessments takes away from the total value of the service and essentially leaves you guessing as to how much progress you have actually made. Wouldn’t it be nice to know that your efforts and the exercise program you are following are actually getting you closer to your goals? The follow up consultations provide you and your trainer with all the pertinent feedback therefore if adjustments are needed (to your prescribed program) they will be done so at that time. Simply utilizing your scale at home is a limited indicator as to how you are really progressing with your exercise program.
